Mapulanga Francisco Vitsitsi, born on June 16, 1979, at St. Gabrielles Hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi. Hailing from a family of eight, with four brothers and four sisters, Mapulanga’s roots are firmly planted in the village of Liwinga under Traditional Authority Kalolo.
Growing up in modest circumstances, Mapulanga’s journey led him through Mkoko Primary, Chileka, and finally to Chibavi Community Secondary School. Along the way, he discovered a love for music that would shape his life.
Married to Lucy Kanyenda,Mapulanga is a proud father of two, Praise and Favour Vitsitsi. His academic pursuits culminated in a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, specializing in Project Management Monitoring and Evaluation from DMI University. Since 2011, he has been making a difference at St John of God Hospitaller Services in Mzuzu.
But it’s in music where Mapulanga truly shines. From his humble beginnings singing in a village choir in 1993 to joining Mzuzu CCAP Joint Choir under the mentorship of Rev Chimwemwe Mhango, his talent soared. With each album, from his solo endeavors to collaborations with St Andrews CCAP Redemption Choir, Mapulanga’s compositions resonate with audiences, capturing the essence of life’s joys and challenges.
With hits like “Oyera” and “Siwina Ayi,” Mapulanga continues to enchant listeners, showcasing his prowess as a composer, arranger, and keyboard player. His journey is not just a biography; it’s a symphony of resilience, passion, and the transformative power of music.
