Ernest Therere is a gospel musician who was born on 27th May, 1997 at Kampepuza Village in the area of Traditional Authority Champiti in Ntcheu District, and he is the first born in a family of six Children.
Ernest started his primary education at Nsipe Primary School in his home district, Ntcheu and later finished at Likhubula Primary School, Chemusa in Blantyre where his parents moved to in 2006. He later spent four years at Soba Private Secondary School in Machinjiri, Blantyre where he obtained a beautiful Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
Despite passing MSCE examination with flying colours, Ernest failed to proceed with tertiary education on financial grounds.
Now talking about his musical journey, Ernest started dreaming about joining the gospel music fraternity way back in 2013 when he was 16 years old when he was a member of Likhubula Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Sunday School Choir.
He was inspired by some big gospel musicians who used to storm the church with captivating performances, especially during some church events such as; crusades, fundraising events, night of prayers and many others.
In 2014, Ernest Therere gained some courage and he majestically penetrated into the music industry and his debut song, titled ‘Bwenzi langa ndi Yesu’ was released on 21st March, 2014 followed by ‘Ndimva za Ziwawa’, ‘Saulo’ and because he was financially dependant to his parents, he managed to complete a 10-song debut album in two years, thus in 2016 and the album was titled after his first hit, ‘Bwenzi langa ndi Yesu’.
A little more about how he despite his financial constraints managed to put ‘Bwenzi langa ndi Yesu’ album which set a foundation of a promising gospel star, Ernest apart getting some money for studio from his parents, he was at some time doing some piece works.
Away from the debut album, the gospel artist who is coming with full force and has been releasing singles for the past years, is currently finalizing his second album which is titled ’Lingalira za Yesu’ and he is very optimistic about unveiling the album in 2024 and he says it shall be spiritually so delicious, full of encouragement, wisdom and a call to righteous life.
Some of the hits in the forthcoming album will include ‘Lingalira za Yesu’ which he featured Prince Bowman and is already enjoying massive airplays, ‘Njonjonjo’, ‘Wasowa’, ‘Usataye mtima’, ‘Mulibe mkhalakale’ and not forgetting ‘Kuchanya’ which is slowly growing wings.
Away from the microphone, Ernest Therere who is also a member of the Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA), is a professional driver and he is currently an employee at Ace Car Hire.
For sure Ernest who is just on point when it comes to composition, is one of Malawi’s prolific gospel musicians in the offing.
